In a higher arched foot, the plantar fascia is under more pressure and thus more prone to becoming symptomatic. In a high-arched foot, the toes have a tendency to draw inward, creating a condition called claw toes. According to Foot Associates of Central Texas, they are named claw toes because the toes begin to curl upward like claws. Shoes that are deeper and wider in the toe box may allow enough room for the toes to be comfortable. With a cavus foot, painful callouses can form under the bases of the first and fifth toes, according to ePodiatry. Callouses can also form along the side or under the heel from the increased pressure and friction. When I began training for my first marathon and went to a sports shoe store in Delhi, they showed me 6 different running shoes for my foot type - I am ‘high arched' and ‘supinating', terms I had no clue about. If you are normal arched then you need a normal stability running shoe.

Feet have three primary arch types: neutral arched, low-arched - also called flat fleet - and high-arched.. None of these arch types automatically mean that you will have problems when walking, but extremely flat feet or high-arched feet can cause severe foot aches. Many athletic shoes are designed with specific arch types in mind. In essence, over-the-counter inserts have a notable role to play in a foot treatment course, but are insufficient for those who need full biomechanical control.
